My wit's diseased!

A small handful of pictures from last Saturday's poker night. MacKinney is getting a little artistic.

Been in a cool rage all night. Not many people hate altruism as much as I do. I am fired-up for armchair-philo [discuss], but will probably end up sitting here and drinking in idle.

A mentor, John Wriesner, is having the first-ever "Rant-off" at Grumpy's in CR next Wednesday. This is bound to be a metric ton of entertainment. Considering signing up, but that'd take more writing.

FINALLY in the middle of Huxley's "Brave New World". I don't think I will be impressed. If you're going to read a dystopian novel, read Levin's "This Perfect Day", if you can find it. Eagerly awaiting the arrival of my copy of "Unintended Consequences" by Jon Ross.

I should take up a collection for kevlar. Any donors?

And listen to some damned Umphrey's McGee!

Yarg.

How much longer?

I usually keep my political rants off of here, as I am usually better at screaming them than writing them, but I am not sure I can take it much longer. It isn't political anymore--it is Jeffersonian.

For those of you who haven't noticed, we have recently hit a mountain peak of political Armageddon. Examples? A couple of Supreme Court rulings: one allowing Federal Agents to raid and prosecute medical marijuana growers within soverign states in which the act is legal, the other giving the FedGov stamp of approval for city council and other 'government municipalities' to take land and homes away from individuals with the intent to re-distribute it to private developers for commercial purposes.

The drooling Congress moving towards a very possible ban on flag burning via Constitutional amendment. I understand some of you may be offended by the burning of the US Flag, but it is better than burning the Bill of Rights. Without the BoR [among many other things], what the hell does the flag mean, anyhow? A police-state with a dash of Imperialism? The sheer ratio in the passage of laws in comparison to the repealing of laws is STAGGERING! Reading a daily report on changes in federal regulation would take you WAY MORE THAN A DAY! (Jim--send me a link.)

Bob Smith's posts from Tuesday and Friday this week echo much of the same. The Leviathan is overbloating, not too far from crushing us all.

For those of you who care to pay more attention, I suggest you watch this (Painful Deceptions, parts 1, 2, and 3). Don't call me a 'conspiracy theorist' 'til you've watched every minute. I wasn't sure about the whole 'Pentagon hit' before, but now the whole event has become a fix. Motives are countless.

The lines between the Bilderberg, Rothschild family, famed "Skull and Bones", the private sector of the Federal Reserve, and even a faint, buried glimmer of the Illuminati are too much to ignore.

Who is ready to shovel out of the propaganda? That is the first step of many. SPEAK!

Doomsday.

...J's is closed. J's Restaurant is CLOSED! NOOOOOOES! MacKinney and Bonk had to talk me out of shooting myself in the empty parking lot. So many damned days spent there. Where I met Nate, Dan, Will...even Kari. Closed.
Today was supposed to be gun day, too, but Bill's closes at five p.m. on Sundays, now. Used to be open 'til nine.

Tried to sleep in on Saturday, but the apartment showings, OHHH the apartment showings! There must have been twenty of them! I don't know why they just don't open an office in here. Poker night last night was swell, though all of my money was swindled pretty darn early. BRIGANDS!

I was expecting to see comments to my Friday post! What is going on out there?

tee-vee and drinking alone,

Can I see some eye-dee?

I was discussing 'libertopia' with the Evil James Johns on Thursday, as we often do, and came across an interesting point. Jim is awfully concerned over the idea of private companies owning and keeping up sidewalk space and roads, us anarchocapitalists being 'always out for the buck'. While I challenge that the owner of the business or residential property will keep an open sidewalk as well-kept as the rest of their property for the sake of their business or value of their neighborhood, he believes that he would be inconvenienced with a 'sidewalk toll'.

I see his point! Consider this: A rich, manipulative, smarmy corporate villain (we'll call him Richard Marx) hatches a diabolical plot to acquire all of the sidewalks in North America, with the intent of charging a $300.00 (though you know we'd be using silver notes) annual "sidewalk fee" to anybody who wants to walk on the sidewalks throughout the year. The plan works perfectly for the first two years, but after the numbers begin to settle, he realizes that only A FOURTH of the people who are walking on the sidewalks are paying their sidewalk fee! FOR SHAMES! Richard Marx does not like this at all, so he hires a band of thugs and goons, and sends them about his sidewalks to demand procurement of sidewalk-fee passes from the pedestrians, and of course, to harass, rough-up, and demand payment from those who do not possess sidewalk-fee passes (even if Mr. Marx doesn't order the harassing and roughing up, they will do it anyway). OY VEY! This sounds terrible, doesn't it? An atrocity!

...sound familiar? Let it sink.

WTF, mate?!

OH NOES, t3h Bilderberger! :(

Whew. Hell of a campaign meeting last Thursday night, hopefully press releases will be flying through the window, soon. The weekend held a great deal of drinking and pals--The Liffey and Great Waters Brewery with MacKinney, Luke, and Will. Everything comin' up Willie!

MacKinney and I played GTA: San Andreas all day Saturday. Wow. Cop killing. Oh, c'mon...you've all done it. We skipped the Hot Summer Jazz Festival, and Corey and his pal Chris came by for a very quiet gathering to celebrate Corey's birthday. Birthday boy was out early, too, and we left him behind for a round at the Hat Trick.

I done jerked Perkins, 06/17/05 post.

One workday down, four to go. This post is t3h 1am3.

Duel!

Saturday's poker was a good time, even if Zac and Justin were off the walls (as can be expected). I got a little wore out and disconnected later into it all, unfortunately. We cut the game a little early and watched MacKinney's rented copy of Sledge Hammer!, which is very quality [old] programming. I recommend! And don't forget to view the pictorial.

LPMN ExCom meeting yesterday evening--got a lot discussed in a short amount of time. Bonk was taking minutes like a madman. Victory! Still looking forward to a big campaign next year, too. I can't discuss it, yet, though.

Kari made it safe and sound to New York. Hopefully she will make it safely and soundly back, too, even if it isn't until August. One day down.

Luke and I are still apartment hunting. There is a place in the St Paul Cathedral District--Selby Ave--that I am piqued by. We're also going to be paying visits to a couple of places in Bandana Square. Beautiful area, but deserted.

A lot of time to spend. Something has been haunting my mind all day. There is this character who works for AT&T Teleconferencing on the 3rd or 4th floor that I see heading in and out of our building all of the time. He is Max Headroom brought to life with plastic and cardboard. The hats. The sunglasses. The umbrellas! AHHHH!

No whiskey 'til nine...no whiskey 'til nine.

My dreams never cease to be dreams. (post 2)

I had a very bizarre dream last night, and I wish I could recall all of it. It started at a party of some sorts in a run-down apartment building. I was sipping whiskey, and having a swell time, when I was approached by a tall man wearing all black. He looked right at me, and before I could interpret what was happening, he pulled out a pocket .38, pointed, and fired at me--missing by a hair. Unarmed (stupid, huh?) and having any sense, I booked down the hallway behind me, stumbling through different rooms of the apartment, everybody taking cover. After a couple of turns, I encountered the tall man again, in which he made another attempt on my life, missing this time, also. After another evasion, I managed to find my way to the front door and made an escape.

I was enclosed in a neighborhood composed of about four or five parallel three-block long roads, all residential. Some shanties, some large homes, some trailers. There is a gap here, but after a lot of running and desperate attempts to find something to arm myself with, there were four teams of four people after me. The teams had different uniforms, and different styles of tactics. I recall one of them fairly vividly--the leader was a very tall and muscular Russian man, with a large ring on his left hand that said "MK". I am not sure if this is the man who first attacked me at the party. The other three members were enormous, also, and armed with massive pistols and fully-automatic rifles. They rolled up and down the streets on a massive war-machine, something straight out of G.I. Joe. These four teams, no matter where I hid, took cover, ran, knew where I was. I was probably GPS'ed. The cat-and-mouse went on for a very long time, and in the pinnacle of it, I was peppered with .22 rounds, at least eight of them in the torso, but they must not have been hollow-points, because the exit wounds were clean. Strange that I did not bleed a lot, but I was in great pain for the remainder of the dream.

After a frantic time of racing around the streets, making pleas to friends and acquaintances, I managed to build myself a rag-tag team of people to defend me, but all I could find to arm myself with personally was the .38 from the beginning of the dream, and there were only two rounds left in it. My Team successfully acted as decoys and distractions as the hunt continued. The decoy trial worked well, as the four teams that were after me did not at all seem to be interested in harming the friends protecting me. Later, though, I found myself in a well-populated part of town, as 'MK's hulking frame approached me. I dropped the .38 and darted into the closest building, which happened to be a one-room schoolhouse, in session. I hid behind a desk and watched him enter. He looked right at me, approaching at a slow pace. I stood and pointed, shouting "HE HAS A GUN!" just as he pulled out a large .45 and squeezed two rounds off--one of them hitting a child next to me, the other round into the wall. Two police officers at the door leapt and tackled him, and I took the opportunity to get the hell out of there, and was relieved to see that my entourage of friends had killed the remainder of 'MK's team and commandeered their massive tractor-like war machine. I hopped on, grabbing a black pump-action 12 gauge from a rack of weapons, and we rode it out of town.

It'd make a great movie.

I left my dignity with the Ramsey County Sheriff. (post 1)

The weekend is momentum! Methuselah's show on Thursday night was a major success. Nate reports that he was approached by the two following bands and asked if they can open for Methuselah some day. Judging by their turnout and how well they performed, they may just keep the name, but if you ask me I think they should switch back to Scallywags or Masquerade.

Jeremy hit the night right on the head with his 06/10/05 post, "Fundamentals", but here is my version: After a half-dozen rail pours for myself, we (MacKinney, Luke, Clint, Kari, and myself) disembarked from the Red Sea, which is under the tyranny of non-smoking Minneapolis borders, and regrouped at swank high rise central, in preparation of a "six mile" journey to The Liffey. It is actually about three-quarters of a mile, but MacKinney lies down more than he stands up. The bar tab opened at about 11:00, and closed some time close to 2:00. The drinks made the walk back a great deal shorter. We did drag MacKinney into a little DS9 marathon when we returned. MacKinney hates Star Trek. Everybody point at him!

Dragged myself out of my bedroom in time to see poor Jeremy MacKinney get hassled by his boss and drug into work on his day off. I made my way to my scheduled 'appointment' with the Ramsey County Sheriff to drop off my carry permit application. Good thing I left my kerambit in the car, as they had me empty my pockets and patted me down before I walked through the metal detector. It will be a good while before I am washed clean with this. I went by Nate's new place--he and Corey, their drummer, live in a studio in the Stevens Quarter in Minneapolis. They have camping chairs...it is awfully depressing. But no time with Nate is depressing. Starving, we took a nine-block walk up the "Eat Street" section of Nicollet Avenue before we found somewhere satisfactory, and were poured on all the way back. Soaking wet, we tooled with his X-Box, chugged some Old English 800, and I introduced him to ytmnd.com. Meanwhile, the Evil James Johns bought a thousand-dollar bicycle.

Today? Poker. I love that picture, too. The following post will be an interesting read.

to the weekend!

"Who cries for the children? I doooooo...."

How about that HR 1528, eh?

[
--Creates a new offense for persons who witness or learn about certain drug offenses that fail to report the drug offender to the police within 24 hours or fail to provide full assistance to the police in tracking and prosecuting the offender. Offenses that would get someone a 2-year minimum sentence, including failing to report a neighbor that is storing or selling drugs when that neighbor has kids, failing to report anyone that gives a joint to someone under the age of 21, and failing to report a college student that is selling marijuana on a college campus.] ((http://actioncenter.drugpolicy.org/action/wacmoreinfo.asp?item=26179))

Tag!

Been a quick weekend. On Friday, Kari and I met McKinney and Drunk Andy at the Liberty Center to help set up the new conference table. Impressive. After a night of DS9 with Kari, I had to get up at eight a.m. yesterday morning--A SATURDAY--to let Erik Pakieser into the LC for a Conceal Carry Certification course. Not a bad time, but far too early. I am finally applying for 'the permit' on Friday, though. Even though I abhor the idea of needing permission from the government, it is better than a gross misdemenaor.

May drop by Grand Old Day today, down on Grand Avenue. Bier!

Meeting at the LC this Thursday, and I very much wish I could be there, but I can't miss Nate and Dan's first show as a full-on band since their Ember Elixir days. Dang.

and, SHIFT!

Here it was.

Been juiced on Dream Theater's "Octavarium" for the last couple nights. Excellent, excellent. You should all be looking forward to its release next Tuesday. I have also been tapped on to a band called Umphrey's McGee--prog jamband rock with some jazz themes. I'd say a little bit of Phish, Zappa, and Incubus. Try it. You'll like it.

Busy times ahead! Nate and Dan's band, Methuselah, is playing at the Red Sea on Thursday, 06/09/05. Let me know if you're interested. Kari is bailing for NYC shortly thereafter...a couple slow, slow months for me. Luckily, things will be busy. Corey's Bachelor Party with MacKinney, finding a new apartment and moving there by the end of July, quite few things going on in August, too.

Big news coming for the LPMN and the State of Minnesota sometime later this year. 2006 will hopefully be a heck of a year for us. Speaking of the LP, you won't believe this. I am still having a hard time. NEWSPEAK. I will post the language after my sig.

next!
