HEY! Put that back!

What an effective weekend. Kari woke me up in the living room on Saturday morning--I must have passed out on the couch engrossed in tee-vee--and found my glasses broken. Later that afternoon was a picnic trying to find a place to get a new pair made, but it happened.

MacKinney, Dan, and Ryan all arrived sometime around 9:30, for our Fear and Loathing party. I have proof. Warning, though, the staple adventure isn't for the weak. It is something that Nate had started a couple weeks ago at the practice space. Anyhow, Luke, Ryan, Dan, MacKinney and I all managed to go-to well past six a.m. Applause!

Shot some excellent, excellent groupings with my Kimber UC on Sunday. Eckthellent. And I had the honor or pulling off a round from Rex's S&W 500. After I pulled the trigger I wanted to drop it and hide. I also made the mistake of using my usual tactical stance instead of a tripod, and pulled a muscle in my right arm. Wowzers.

Been digging hard into The Black Arrow. It is Atlas Shrugged-1984-Batman, but not quite living up to expectations yet, due to a little bit of excessive Libertarian soapboxing at times. I love soapboxing, but not in novels. I'll have to give it a bit more time to pick up steam.

tipping it back,

the Brenn Ballad

To those of you who are, warn me if you're interested in coming by our "Fear & Loathing" gathering tomorrow night. Do. And if you didn't see it, one of Dr. Thompson's later pieces, "Shotgun Golf with Bill Murray".

Finally got my copy of Vin Suprynowicz's The Black Arrow. I will make sure to let you know how it fares.

Good interview with Dave Eggers in The Onion. I hope you all have read A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius.

probably last Saturday

So drunk my demons are crying,
I stand at the topmost ledge of the mountain
chucking the sharpest stone I can find,
lobbed a good fifty yards
before it reaches the edge of its arc.

Being at this particular ledge
and forward-looking
the future is an unguaranteed view,
not rippling at all from the projectiles I launch in effort.

The only way to make the nose bleed
is to hit it yourself.

cogito ergo doleo

In reference to a previous speaker and as hopefully most of you are aware of the most recent bad news--the passing of our beloved great gonzo of journalism, Dr. Hunter S. Thompson.

As a memorial, there will be a Fear & Loathing gathering at my place this Saturday--we may watch the interview/documentary instead of the movie, pending a poll, and heading to Armored Fire on Sunday afternoon to pop off a few rounds in his name. :( Rest in peace, soldier of the pen.

Poker ended up not happening, but Armored Fire was a heck of a time--Dan and I met up with Luke and his older brother Roger. Grouping with the Kimber didn't get much better, but my handling did. Crappy factory mags are causing a good amount of jams, though--I am getting some after-market clips.

LPMN ExCom meeting was tonight, and the Convention still looms. We're waiting on tickets to start rolling in, as well as candidate endorsement requests.

$2

I am glad the Fed doesn't circulate two dollar bills anymore. Jefferson would be pissed.

still thawing

Dan and I had an entertaining outing last night. Barhopping in downtown St Paul from lowertown to the end of civilization of west 7th. A late late 3 a.m. dinner at Mickey's diner close to ending to what was about three and a half miles of walking in fifteen degree weather. No cabs were to be seen.

We fried our second dee-vee-dee player and I'm to buy a new one this evening, so the dame and I can watch Monk for a lengthy trial tonight. Then Saturday POKER, poker poker poker. May be a few seats open, too. Contact if at all interested. Making it a point to head out to Armored Fire every other Sunday, religiously at the least.

Mind to check out LP Scribner's ad company, Third Wheel Group. And remember to read Bob Smith every day.

Don't forget to rock the spock.

Thank jeebus I am not in the cube.

I slip and straddle the razor, sometimes. I am getting awfully sick of office incompetence and deadbeat customers. I need a vacation, soon.

For those who haven't seen (and to the rest of ye, Chad Perkins!) watch this ASAP. I know it is a little slow, and seems too simple, but bedamned if we didn't try a government of actual logic for once, eh? Think about it, and direct your questions on what *you* can do to help, to me on AIM, YIM, or email.

Leaving work early tomorrow to pick up my new ordnance. ::drool::

Minnesota April showers in February?

Crazy weather, it is. Rained all day and snowing all night.

The Kimber Ultra Carry was everything I expected it'd be, and then some. With any luck it'll be mine by the end of the week. Then I've got to perfect it at the range.

Please begin to place your requests for Armored Fire outings. I'll probably be taking one-at-a-time for a few Sundays. Thompson-style.

awe...is it the weekend already?

Nobody reading this has any idea how bizarre work was today. Mutating orders, Worthless McWorthlessness customers, sneaky, hidden UNE-P services...and after a week of hostile call takeovers. I am burnt out. But hey--you already know about Sunday.

Yea...I am gonna have a weekend of the skirt, the sleeping, the whiskey, the friends, and firing handguns. Hawt damn! *AND* Night Court is out on dee-vee-dee. ;D

On a disappointing note, that my best friend/roommate/staunch Republican Luke will share: While you're at it, maybe you can propose a Pawlenty ban too?

What? It's Wednesday?

Laundry day, laundry day.

I hope you've all seen Sockbaby by now. If not, do it immediately.

The meeting last night with the USPS went surprisingly well, though there are still some small financial repercussions we'll have to shovel through o'er the next few months. Oh--LPMN StateCon coming up, too, followed by the Badnarik Constitution Course. Order tickets ASAP.

And Sunday? I get to fire the Kimber. You can't comprehend my excitement.

they all played games, at the ladybug picnic

This is so damned cool, I don't have anything to say about it, other than that it must be watched.
Sockbaby.

Small yet interesting string on Chad Perkins' website regarding how the word "democracy" snuck its way into the mouths of our federal government. Frankly, I am disgusted by it. Regarding, an interesting statement from the honorable Rep. Ron Paul.

Poker went damn well, thank you. As did Mickey's, despite it being busy.

not so fast there, buddy...

My mom is in possession of the Kimber I may be buying--she borrowed it from the seller so I can give it a whirl next week. On the same note, still waiting for the Court of Appeals' ruling on the MPPA.

Poker tonight, and this time things should work out. Last poker night was a bust, aside from seeing Luke humiliate himself.

Rockin' the Transatlantic again. Especially "Stranger in your Soul".

Meanwhile, few of you may have discussed the LPMN newsletter postage with me. I've got a meeting with the USPS on Tuesday. Pray for me.

Cards and drinks for the rest of you,

the return of the Constitutional Avenger, part II

I am teeming with anger. Teeming.

Every year, during Black History Month, the AT&T ABTE (Alliance of Black Telecommunication Employees) sends out an email a week to our entire center, containing five 'quiz' questions--a noble thing to do. Though I don't recall the language of the question of a specific one from today, the answer, when distributed to a few hundred people, was specifically "The Constitution states that people of African blood are three-fifths human and two-thirds beast..." I was afraid to email the distributor back, asking her what article of the Constitution states this, but I think I have put her sister into hot water a couple of times, and doubled with my boiling, I didn't think it would have ended up pretty. I had Cha'Perkins do it. The Great Compromise (Article 1, section 2, clause 3) states: "
Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons." The "all other Persons" they refer to were slaves, and this was amended with Article XIV, as "all other Persons" is now unconstitutional.

FIGHT CONSTITUTIONAL IGNORANCE.

ARRRGH!

my can cruncher

This probably doesn't mean a lot to many of you (if there are many, that is), but my evershrinking world is really starting to kill me...here comes a blathering of names:

While at the Local at an after-work birthday party (I find it necessary to socialize with co-workers once in a blue moon, as painful as it is sometimes), I ducked my head to chat with Stephen Holm for a bit--never had spoken with him much before, but one of the few with a real block of something on their shoulders. Into discourse I find that he once worked with my good friend/ex co-worker, Maria Dunn, at Cheapo, and moved into the same apartment room that my close friend Nate had lived in just before. Nate and I used to chuck beer bottles at uptown tourists from his balcony. Small, small world.

Today I am talking Maria to inform her of this, and she mentions that she met a cousin of mine--Amy. Took me a bit of recalling, but I do have a step-cousin named Amy, and as it is she is now dating Chaz Nutz of Martyr AD, who I used to drink with when I was fifteen. Turn the dial a quarter spin back, and I recall that Luke used to live next door to Amy's family, long before my mom married Bryan.

GAHH! Hopefully this will soon pass.

In the long-term grief, the company that has fed me and kept a roof over my head for about...my entire life, is being acquired by one of its former subsidiaries. :(
